Chennai Super Kings secured a hard-fought 4-wicket win over Mumbai Indians, with skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad and Rachin Ravindra leading the charge with impressive fifties. Gaikwad reached his fastest IPL fifty in just 22 balls before debutant Vignesh Puthur dismissed him. Puthur, who had a dream debut for Mumbai, also removed Shivam Dube (9) and Deepak Hooda in quick succession.
Earlier, Noor Ahmad dismantled MI’s middle order, dismissing Tilak Verma (31), Suryakumar Yadav (29), Namn Dhir (17), and Robin Minz (3). Deepak Chahar’s late cameo of 29 off 15 balls helped Mumbai post 155/9. MI’s innings had a shaky start as Khaleel Ahmed sent Rohit Sharma back for a duck and later dismissed Ryan Rickelton. Ravichandran Ashwin also joined the attack, claiming the wicket of Will Jacks.
CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and opted to field first against Suryakumar Yadav’s Mumbai Indians in Match No. 3 of IPL 2025 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium. With regular MI skipper Hardik Pandya serving a one-match ban, Surya stepped in to lead the side.
